New Hyundai electric SUV concept called Seven to make its debut in the US later this month.

Hyundai has released teaser images of a new electric SUV concept, the Seven, set to make its debut at the AutoMobility show in Los Angeles later this month.

The Seven is expected to provide a preview of Hyundai's Ioniq 7 SUV which is due for launch in 2024.

The new images give a glimpse of the Seven's design language, some of which it shares with the Ioniq 5 which is currently on sale. The only exterior shot thus far is of a front corner of the vehicle featuring a lighting mosaic which Hyundai describes as "Parametric Pixels".

Inside, the pictures reveal a flat-floored interior, very much carrying through the "lounge" concept of the Ioniq 5, though as the Ioniq 7 is due to be a much larger car, it's a lot more spacious. Rather than leather, Hyundai has opted for sustainable wool-like fabrics for the seating.

What we know about the Ioniq 7

Because of previous hints dropped by Hyundai, we already know a little bit about the Ioniq 7.

An image released by the company earlier this year showed an Ioniq 5 flanked by a sleek saloon model and a large shadowy SUV bearing the "parametric" lighting as seen in the latest concept pictures. The saloon is likely the Ioniq 6 model - based on Hyundai's handsome Prophecy concept - which is scheduled for launch late next year.

The imagery also confirms that, while all part of the same sub-brand and bearing some familial styling cues, all Ioniq models in future will have their own identities and not just be scaled up or down versions of each other.

Hyundai has said that the Ioniq 7 will be based on the E-GMP architecture it shares with Kia and Genesis, and, judging by its size, it seems like it'll be a large, three-row, possibly seven-seater SUV.

With that architecture, it's also possibly that the Ioniq 7 could use a similar battery and motor set-up to the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 with a 77.4kWh battery pack or bigger driving front and rear electric motors to develop 585hp as is currently seen in certain EV6 models.

As of now, of course, beyond what Hyundai has confirmed, any details about the Ioniq 7 are speculative and there's no word yet on whether it'll be coming to Ireland following its launch in 2024.
