We get our best look yet at the forthcoming electric Skoda Enyaq iV.

As the countdown to the official debut of the Skoda Enyaq iV on September 1st draws near, we get our best look yet at what to expect from the electric SUV. Measuring in a little larger than the mid-size Skoda Karoq, the Enyaq iV promises a more spacious interior thanks to the MEB architecture that comes from Skoda's Volkswagen Group parent.

The Enyaq iV features a bold front design with a large grille graphic that, on higher-spec versions, will be illuminated. A new LED daytime running light signature adds to the sense of width, as does the design of the lower bumper area. As clean as the surfaces look in the sketches, the Skoda will feature conventional door handles and wheels that range in size from 18- to 21 inches in diameter - the largest wheels to appear on a production Skoda to date.

At the rear of the car, like other new models in the range, the emblem has been replaced by the Skoda name across the centre of the tailgate. That lifts to reveal a large boot holding 585 litres, though there isn't an additional boot space in the front. Still, that cargo capacity should be plenty for the average user.

A more emotive design

Commenting on the look of the Enyaq iV, Karl Neuhold, Head of Exterior Design at Skoda, said: "With the Enyaq iV, we are again building on the emotive Skoda design language that characterises the Scala, the Kamiq and the new, fourth-generation Octavia. The Enyaq iV also features sculptural lines, clear surfaces and crystalline elements that draw inspiration from Bohemian crystal art. Its proportions, however, differ from those of our previous SUV models: the Enyaq iV has a shorter front end and an elongated roofline. This creates a very dynamic look and transforms it into a proverbial 'space shuttle'."

The Skoda Enyaq iV will be available with a choice of batteries ranging from 55- to 82kWh, along with higher-power dual motor options with all-wheel drive. It will have a maximum driving range of up to 500 kilometres.
