Limited edition pack brings GP styling to Works hatch.

So, let's assume that you're in the market for a MINI John Cooper Works hatchback (as recently reviewed by our own Dave Humphreys) but what you really fancy is the MINI John Cooper Works GP - the one with no back seats and tweaked suspension and aero.

OTT bodykit

Let's further say that you either can't afford the GP model, or you just can't live with its lack of a back seat, but you really like the OTT bodykit and styling. Well, good news! MINI is going to make a limited run (just 3,000) of body styling packs that will upgrade your humble John Cooper Works to full-on GP styling.

Racing know-how

"The content was developed on the basis of expert know-how gathered in the white heat of the race track, which has assisted all the models of the John Cooper Works brand to achieve inspiring performance, and is derived directly from the development process for the new MINI John Cooper Works GP" says MINI. The pack includes Racing Grey paint for the body, with Melting Silver for the contrast roof colour.

There are black finishes for the bonnet scoop, the door handles, and the fuel filler flap, as well as piano black finish for the inside of the headlights. There's also a black MINI logo front and rear, and side stripes with the GP logo. Plus you get 18-inch alloy wheels with John Cooper Works spokes and GP centre caps.

Special leather

Inside, there are John Cooper Works sports seats in a leather Dinamica finish with the GP badge. That logo is also on the floormats, which also get contrast red stitching. The steering wheel, meanwhile, is covered in Walknappa leather, features red stitching and 3D printed metal centre marking for the 12 o'clock position. If you go for the eight-speed automatic gearbox, you also get metal paddle-shifters with the GP logo on them.
