Volkswagen Snapshot calendar competition

Prizes include a DSLR camera, smartwatches, and more.

Volkswagen Ireland has revived its Snapshot calendar competition for a fourth consecutive year. The idea is that people all across Ireland can take gorgeous, Volkswagen-inspired photos, which will be collected into a calendar. Proceeds from sales of the calendar will, as always, benefit a charity - this year it's ALONE.

Proceeds to elder care charity

ALONE raises awareness about the challenges and issues that older people face, as they age. This charity is increasingly more important in the current climate of Covid-19 and will have a lasting impact for months after, as older people will be cautious about leaving their homes, visiting friends and family and could be cocooning.

Anyone taking a Volkswagen photo can upload it to Instagram using the hashtag #VWSnapshot. There are some hashtagged specific subjects to follow, too and those include #Smartphone, #Nighttime, #Animals, #Garden, #Water and #Volkswagen.

Canon camera the top prize

Each category will be eligible for a different prize. Top prize for the #Volkswagen category is a Canon EOS 90D DSLR camera. The #Nighttime winner gets a voucher for a stay in one of Ireland's luxurious Blue Book country house hotels. The #Smartphone category top prize is a DJI Osmo Pocket Camera, while the #Water category winner will take home a GoPro action camera with accessories. The #Garden category winner will receive a Weber BBQ and pizza stone, the #Animals category winner will receive a pair of Air Pods Pro, and the 12 winners for the Volkswagen 2021 calendar will receive a Fitbit VERSA 2 - smartwatch.

Of course, the dozen best photos will be picked out to form the 2021 Volkswagen Snapshot calendar, which is kind of a prize in itself.

Growing in popularity every year

Commenting on the launch of this year's Snapshot Competition, Volkswagen Ireland's Head of Marketing Mark McGrath said: "Each year the Snapshot Contest grows in popularity and we are always amazed by the quality of the work from the contestants. This year we are pleased to be supporting ALONE in the great work they are doing for older people, especially during these unprecedented times."
