Aston moves to reassure owners during lockdown

Warranty extensions and service-schedule waivers announced by Aston.

Aston Martin has outlined a series of procedures designed to help its customers during the lockdown conditions of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic - including an extension to warranties in affected countries, consideration of lapsed service schedules and future booking plans for maintenance.

Warranty extensions

As lockdown has closed Aston Martin's global dealerships, customers might be worrying about their warranties either expiring during lockdown or being affected by the fact they can't get their cars in for servicing on their due dates. However, Aston has circumvented these worries with a package of strategies for owners. First of all, any warranty that is due to expire or has expired since March 14, 2020, or - in the case of China - January 1, 2020, will be extended until June 30, 2020. That, broadly speaking, covers all the countries in which lockdown conditions prevail and when they took effect.
Customers are also being reassured that the condition in their car's Owner's Guide, stating that failure to adhere to specified service intervals may invalidate warranty coverage, is being waived until restrictions change and appropriate dealer operations are able to resume. Therefore, all cars serviced within three months or 3,200km (whichever is sooner) of the in-car service indicator will be protected in full by any applicable Aston Martin warranty. As soon as restrictions lift and dealer operations resume, owners of the cars affected will be asked to arrange a booking with their dealer at the earliest possible opportunity.

'Not top-of-mind'

Andy West, director of client services at Aston Martin, said: "For all of us, the Covid-19 pandemic and associated lockdown has been, and will continue to be, a very trying time. While issues such as car maintenance and warranty cover are, quite rightly, not top-of-mind for many, we want to let our customers know that in partnership with our global dealer network we are doing all we can to support them, and their sports cars, through this period and will be looking forward to helping them get back behind the wheel of their beloved Aston Martin sports cars when it is safe and appropriate to do so."
