Nissan and Irish sports stars pledge cash for Heroes

Home exercising to raise money for Feed The Heroes campaign.

Nissan Ireland has teamed up with some of the biggest names in Irish sports to raise money for the Feed The Heroes campaign. Feed The Heroes is a charity set up to support frontline workers with essential and nutritious meals during the COVID-19 crisis.

Stars of football, rugby, and the Olympics

The Nissan Active Challenge sees the likes of football legend Niall Quinn, new Ireland managers Stephen Kenny and Vera Pauw, Olympians Natalya Coyle and Rob Heffernan and rugby stars James Lowe and Sena Naoupu joining forces to encourage people all over Ireland to upload videos to YouTube of what they are doing to stay active at home. Nissan will donate €5 to Feed The Heroes for every video that is uploaded, and all of the videos will be entered into a prize draw to win a weekend away for two when it's safe to do so.

Doing everything to provide essential meals

"We are delighted to support Feed the Heroes and to raise awareness of the incredible work that this voluntary organisation is doing to provide essential and nutritious meals to our frontline heroes fighting COVID-19 in Ireland," said James McCarthy, CEO of Nissan. "The requirement to stay at home has challenged everyone to come up with new ways of staying active. We want people to show Nissan how they have risen to the challenge by posting their exercise, baking, cooking, painting and other active videos. For every video uploaded Nissan will donate €5 to Feed the Heroes."

A fun way to stay active

"The Nissan Active Challenge is a fun way to stay active and to make a difference to support our frontline medical staff during this crisis. We are delighted to have such an established brand like Nissan in our corner as we work together to make a difference," said Cian O'Flaherty, Co-Founder, Feed the Heroes. "Nissan is generously donating €5 for every video post that is uploaded using the hashtag #nissanactivechallenge. Their support is set to make a massive difference. We are encouraging everyone to make videos, to upload them using the hashtag and to nominate a friend to do the same."
