What size battery will be used in the new 2027 Hyundai Bayon hybrid and what will the electric only range be?
Hi,
My question relates to new car warranties here. Is it fair to draw conclusions about a manufacturer’s confidence in their design and engineering from the warranty they offer?
There’s a huge range of warranties on offer in Ireland. As I understand it, Mercedes offers a paltry two years, unlimited mileage, with no option to purchase an extension.
This is followed closely by Audi and VW, each offering three years and 90,000km, again with no option to purchase an extension.
Most others seem to offer at least three years with up to unlimited mileage, up to Kia’s seven years and 150,000km.
My own four-year-old Toyota Corolla will be warrantied for up to 10 years with timely Toyota servicing.
I note you don’t tend to mention reliability in your reviews, maybe because numbers sold in Ireland are too small for meaningful stats.
The UK’s What Car? reliability survey is eye-opening and in some cases eye-watering, and presumably closely reflects the experience of Irish drivers.
It seems to me that warranty should be a key consideration when buying a new car. What are the stingier warranties telling us about quality?
If you haven’t done so to date, would you consider doing an article about new car warranties here?
Keep up the great work,
Have you guys driven the new Volvo XC60 yet, i.e. the PHEV with the 200km electrical range? I'm trying to decide whether to go fully electric with something like the Volvo EX60 or to hedge my bets a bit with the new XC60.
The key for me will be comfort on the "N roads" in my area which despite being national routes are less than ideal driving surfaces.
I’m aware of the VRT relief confirmed in the budget. Will the SEAI grant continue in 2027?
Hi,
Would a Volkswagen Tiguan be good enough to do the 4x4 Cannonball Run?
If you use the AR HUD in the new Audi Q4 e-tron, is there an “issue” with the front screen and the so called “multifocus part/line” on/in the windscreen?
What is the projected Irish price of the Xpeng G9 and G9L?
Hi,
I’m interested in purchasing a 2011 Citroen DS3 Racing from a private seller in the UK. Could you advise me on what costs are involved in registering the car in the Republic of Ireland and what paperwork I would need to acquire and all the steps involved?
Thanks
I am interested in purchasing a Kia Sorento 1.6 PHEV, 2025 or 2026 model year. I am getting conflicting info regarding its towing capabilities of braked trailers.
Garages are claiming 1,700kg whereas the book says 1,010kg. I believe the UK cars are up to 1,700kg from what I can ascertain.
Can you possibly clarify the situation for me please as I don’t want to make a mistake? I wish to tow a box van trailer with a very light load making the total weight of approx. no more than 1,200kg. I need the four-wheel drive for soft ground towing (fields).
