I live and work in south Dublin city. Once a month I do a run to Limerick or Cork. Do I need a diesel car?

Expert answer

Hi Christopher,

We don't think a diesel would be the best option for you at all. Sure, it would be economical on your once-a-month trip down the country, but the rest of the time it's more polluting in the city, likely to cause issues with the DPF and other components gumming up, more expensive to maintain and probably no more efficient than say a decent hybrid for most of your driving month.
