Will the SEAI grant for EVs continue into 2027?

The government has confirmed that the VRT relief for electric cars will continue until the end of 2028, following its extension in Budget 2027.

However, the SEAI purchase grant is a separate incentive and its continuation into 2027 has not yet been explicitly confirmed.

At present, the SEAI grant remains available at up to €3,500 for qualifying new electric cars costing no more than €50,000. There has been no announcement that this grant is being withdrawn, but equally, we cannot guarantee that the current amount or eligibility criteria will remain unchanged in 2027.

Saying all that, the wording in the official post-budget documentation seems to suggest it will by referring to a “purchase grant”.
