The question
Are Japanese car imports harder to insure even if they have immobilisers fitted, whether originally or by the importing garage?

Hi Declan,
There's no definitive answer to that as it varies by make and model and how familiar the insurer is with the car in question. It certainly adds friction to the transaction that is not there for an original Irish-market car. We'd urge buyers to get insurance quotes before committing to a purchase if possible.
