Do I have to prove use of my car before moving it to Ireland?

Can you elaborate on the rule that the vehicle must be owned and used for six months prior to moving to Ireland making use of the transfer of residence rules?
Is there a test for “used”? I am considering buying a used car and registering and insuring it, but it won’t be driven much before I move to Ireland.
Are there any issues with this?

Hi Alan,
The test is only that the car was taxed and insured. There is no further requirement for it to be used or to have covered any specific distance.
From what you've said, you should be fine.
