Where to get official CO2 figures for a Nissan imported from Japan?

As the Elgrand was originally a Japanese-market car, the UK registration documents may not contain all of the emissions information Revenue requires for an Irish VRT calculation. Revenue specifically accepts CO2 and NOx information for Japanese imports obtained from Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. You'll ideally need the original Japanese Export Certificate so the exact model, specification and weight can be matched to the correct emissions data, though readers tell us this is not always easy to obtain.

Check the UK V5C first to see whether a CO2 figure is recorded, but it may not have the NOx output on it.

Before buying the car, we'd therefore strongly recommend getting copies of its Japanese export documents and checking the emissions evidence with Revenue/NCTS.

Also bear in mind that importing a car from Great Britain rather than Northern Ireland can bring additional VAT and customs duty implications.
