Can I import my company's Range Rover VRT free?

The question

Hi

I'm permanently based in Cork but have a company in the UK for which I travel back and forth regularly for work. I have a vehicle over there, a 2017 Range Rover. Can I bring this back to Ireland after owning it for longer than six months in the UK and avoid VRT etc?

Expert answer

Hi Brendan,

It might be possible to bring the vehicle in as a Transfer of Residence import as, though it's not quite what Revenue had in mind when it introduced the scheme, you are likely to have the paperwork to support it. Take a look yourself at the official Transfer of Residence page for more details so you can make a decision.
