Should my dipped beams stay on when mains are?

The question
When I turn on main beam the dipped lights still stay on, making a very bright patch close ahead that makes the main beam seem dim. What do you think?

Hi Peter,
If your dipped beam is appearing brighter than your mains then we'd suggest there's something wrong with the reflectors in the light or the alignment. You really should have it checked out.
