I am considering importing a 3.0-litre diesel 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Icon seven-seater. However, I can't find any VRT estimate on Revenue’s site. Would you have any idea how much would it cost to import it approximately?

How do I check the history of a car imported from the UK?

I purchased a car from a seller posing as a private seller but is actually a registered dealer with multiple listings. Same day, driving home and the engine management light comes on. I took it to a mechanic who is quoting me circa €700 to diagnose a potential EGR problem.

Just wondering since the seller is a “disguised dealer” do I have any comeback? With regards to the fault the car drives okay just the light comes on and cruise control does not work. Initially thought fault was a faulty MAP sensor but mechanic insisted it was fine and wants to inspect the EGR.

Found a little gem in the UK; is it worth importing to Ireland or will it set me back a ton? It's an 2008 Saab for £10K

Does the new BMW 120 M Sport have low-profile tires and lowered suspension? I’m veering towards the 120 Sport if it’s a higher ride.

I drive a 2020 Mercedes E 220 d with 61,200km on the clock and full MBSH covering circa 12,000km per annum. I have recently retired and will be doing less mileage and was wondering whether petrol or hybrid (e.g. Toyota Camry or Lexus ES 300h) is the best option and what choices are there if one were to go new or nearly new.

I bought my Vauxhall Insignia Estate 1.6-litre diesel from Perrys Main Vauxhall Dealers in Huddersfield in July 2021 which was first registered in September 2016. To date, it has recorded 41,000 miles approximately on its odometer with two previous owners.

I had its annual service and MOT carried out a local garage with an excellent reputation in July 2023 in July 2024 which included supplying new front discs, pads and offside callipers which was completed and paid for on 8/7/24.

Shortly afterwards the clutch burnt out and had to be supplied and fitted along with a dual-mass flywheel completed and paid for on 19/7/24. The vehicle was returned to the garage for bleeding on 25/7/24 due to the poor-quality gear change.

The vehicle was returned to the garage on 23/10/24 with a problem in selecting reverse gear and subsequently first gear without switching the engine off. The manager confirmed this work and any further work relating to this problem would be on a free-of-charge basis under warranty.

Subsequently, the garage has fitted two more clutches to replace those burnt out and a master cylinder during November 2024. Unfortunately, the problem of selecting reverse and first gear still persists, and the vehicle is going back into the garage tomorrow for further investigation.

Have you any suggestion that could resolve this problem?

I have a 2018 VW Tiguan with 210,000km on the clock. I keep up with maintenance and do approx. 160km round trip four days a week. How much more do you think I can get out of it? I’ve replaced a few parts in the summer. Also, would a diesel or hybrid suit me better when buying the next car when I’m doing those mileages?

I am interested in getting a BYD vehicle as a commercial vehicle. Can you tell me if the electric Seal Design saloon can be used as a commercial car? If not can its new BYD Seal U hybrid?
