Purchased a car in Northern Ireland that is originally registered in Northern Ireland. Up for NCT inspection soon. The invoice states 5,480km, though it was 5,557km when it entered the Republic of Ireland at Lifford Co Donegal. Today it reads 6,341km and so will exceed 6,000km on VRT inspection visit. Do I meet the 6,000km rule to avoid VAT? It is seven months old so ok on six-month-age rule.

Hello, regarding importing from NI, I am looking to buy from a private individual. The car arrived in NI from 2019 so there is no customs declaration. It has a record of each MOT in NI though since then. Along with its V5, would that be enough for the Revenue to avoid VAT and customs charges?

I'm planning on importing a 2020 Honda CR-V 2.0 petrol from Japan. I'm stressing about the VRT, as there are so many horror stories online. The official calculator on Revenue's website indicates VRT around €6k. How reliable is this? I can see that this year is listed online for around €28-29K.

Has my 192 Hyundai 1.6 diesel engine a timing belt or chain?
I have a 2024 BMW i4 eDrive 35 M Sport Pro, from new, with Comfort Pack, laser lights and 360-degree camera with 40,000km approx. on the clock. Thinking about trading it in for either a Skoda Elroq RS, Cupra Tavasan or maybe a Volvo EX40.
I'm getting a bad trade in price, a lot less than what I was expecting. I was thinking I'd have to part with about €6-7k to change. But it's nearly twice that. What do you think cost-to-change would be?
Also, debating what to change to, I've never had an SUV-type car. Had plenty of saloons, hatches and coupes.
