Should I buy a car without the log book?

Hi,

I’m interested in buying a second hand car from a SIMI registered and reputable garage. I’m happy with everything except they don’t have a log book from the customer that traded it in. They did service the car themselves so I’m sure they’ll provide verification of that, but should I be worried about the lack of previous history?

Thanks

Eimear

Can I find identity of previous bike owners?

Can the motor taxation office reveal the identity of previous owners of vehicles? I bought a vintage motorcycle a few years ago, fixed it up, got a replacement logbook because its own was lost. A man saw it one day and thinks his father owned it years ago. He is interested in buying it back but he is not certain it's the same bike. How do we find out?
