I am considering purchasing a 2022 Mazda MX-5 2.0 [184] GT Sport Tech RF in Northern Ireland. The mileage is 43,000 miles, but I cannot find VRT example of it only the 1.5 version. I am buying it from the Republic of Ireland.

Do I have to pay the NOx levy on a VW Tiguan that was always on Northern Irish plates to bring it to the South? It's a 2014 model.

I have the intention of purchasing a vehicle from NI. The car in question is a Golf Mk2 GTD 1.6 diesel from 1991. Is it true that I only have to pay €200 for the VRT? What about NOx levy? I understand that for diesel engines it can get quite expensive.

A quick query in relation to VRT: we are looking at importing a car (crash damaged) solely for the purpose of donor parts for one of our vehicles that requires an engine and body panel.

We believe customs duty will apply, but the donor car from the UK will never be reregistered in Ireland and it would be our intention when we have the parts required removed to get an end-of-life cert for what remains of the imported car from the UK.

With this in mind, can we take it that the UK import will not require VRT?

Could you please advise how much Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) I would need to pay for my 2017 Renault Twizy 80 full electric (A or B1 driver category)? The vehicle is currently registered in Lithuania under my name, and I now wish to register it in Ireland.

I have lived in North Ireland for five years; can I transfer my car with finance on it or does finance have to be cleared to get a VRT exemption?

How can I calculate VRT if there is no match in the database? The car in question is a Toyota Corolla hybrid hatchback from Japan, a 2.0-litre. I cannot find the model code within the database at all. I know I'll pay customs and VAT, which is fine, but VRT is the grey area I need to figure out as it could put me way over budget.

I am looking at buying a 2023 Nissan Leaf Tekna from the North. The garage has said that there is no VRT to pay as it is an electric vehicle. Is that correct? I have checked the Revenue VRT calculator, and it has given me a figure of around €2,300.
