I got a 1999 Toyota Cresta 2.0 auto petrol in from Japan in November. I went to the VRT/NCT office to get the reg and, as I was missing one document, was told to come back after Xmas. Nobody said anything about the NOx charge coming in 2020...

So now I have to pay this charge even though I have the NOx/CO2 numbers for the car from the seller in Japan. Also, the VRT came in at €5,500; this a crazy price for a 1999 car - Revenue thinks the car is worth €20,000 and it's actually only worth €4,000 or €5,000 at most; I cannot pay this amount so what can I do?

If I am buying a new car in the UK and I have to pay Irish VAT, what figure do I use to calculate the VAT? Is it the UK price inclusive or exclusive of VAT converted to Euro?

When the UK exits the EU at the end of this month, will VAT on UK car imports have to be paid from then on?

I have bought a van in the UK. It's a day van with a pop top roof installed, it's still listed as a van on the logbook. I want to bring it over to Ireland and have it registered as a motor caravan. Is it possible to bring over a van and register it as a motor caravan?

If I am importing a vehicle from Australia and it is exempt from VRT, as I have owned it for over six months, will it be exempt from this new NOx tax? Revenue states the NOx is calculated as part of VRT. I hope so or else it is a €4,850 bill I was not expecting.

I am looking to import a Ford Transit Custom crew cab six-seat with separate cargo area. I'm not sure on the VRT charges due to all the changes at the start of 2019. Can you advise me on what charges I will be liable for? I tried contacting Revenue, but unfortunately no response!

Hi, I am doing some work on my own house in Ireland in 2020; how long can I keep my big van there without changing the plates as I want to bring it back to UK again?

Do I need to let Irish Revenue know if I resell my imported UK car back to the the UK garage where I bought it as the VRT is too high on it when I got the figure today?

Where/how can I find the NOx emissions on a used car?
