Hello,

Is it a good idea to purchase a used car warranty (for roughly €500)? The BMW warranty is due to expire soon and the car is now seven years old.

Just bought a 2014 Kia cee'd and noticed it has only ever had one service; does this make the warranty void?

Hi, would you know if UK Audi and Volvo manufacturer warranties would be honoured by Audi/Volvo dealers here in ROI?

Doing a bit a research on Renault.  I bought a new Renault Laguna III 1.5 dCi in January 2008 with beige half leather and auto hand brake and now have 210,000km on the clock. I forked out €32k in 2008 and five years later the engine is gone. Not happy, won’t buy another Renault. Seems to be a built-in switch that when it reaches 200,000km or five years the car is knackered. I have to get a replacement engine, which is impossible and not cheap. So much for commercial good will. Car was serviced and timing belt was changed. I would not recommend Renault to anyone, especially when the garage/dealer that I bought it from in 2008 is now in liquidation (not mentioning any names). Is it true that I potentially only have recourse through dealer of purchase? Are people out there aware of this situation?

Hi, just wondering if you know if Audi Ireland will honour remaining warranty on a demo imported from an Audi dealer in the UK?

I just bought a 2010 Skoda Octavia from a local small time dealer just five months ago and he gave me a six-month warranty. I had been back twice with the car losing power and he told me it was a filter. Just last week the car wouldn't start too easily for me and now the dealer put it in to a main Skoda dealer and they have said it's the EGR valve and the small dealer says he won't cover this under his engine and gearbox warranty.

So my question is, where do I stand here on this matter?

Hi, I'm going over to buy a 2013 Volkswagen CC in England at the weekend. There's 66,000 miles on it. I'm looking at buying a private warranty for it that gives me some cover when it's back in Ireland. Would you be able to recommend a private warranty company? I'm getting mixed messages about Mapfre and Carprotect.ie.

I have a 2015 Nissan Qashqai 1.5 diesel. Recently there is a severe vibration from the passenger side front of the car on standing idle. It disappears after a slight rev on the engine is applied. Would appear the car body is lightly built and the diesel engine vibrates the engine mountings. Is this a common fault and or have you had other queries similar to this on the Qashqai?

The clutch bearing has failed on my 2014 Mazda3 with 34000km on the clock. Should I expect Mazda to replace this free of charge?

I have a 2004 MINI Cooper and the other day my car suffered sudden failure of the power steering. I believe in 2013 BMW released a letter stating they would extend the warranty coverage for the power assist steering pump and associated cooling fan for 13 years. My car is currently with my local garage and they informed me that the steering pump needs to be replaced and will cost nearly €800 to repair. I am wondering if my car is covered under warranty within Ireland?
