Aston Martin unveils 007 Editions

Aston Vantage and DBS 007 cars for release of No Time To Die.

Aston Martin's long association with the James Bond film franchise continues with a couple of new special models, timed to coincide with the release of the 25th flick in the series - No Time To Die. You're looking at the Aston Martin Vantage 007 Edition and the DBS Superleggera 007 Edition.

Four Astons in new film

With there being four different Astons on show in No Time To Die - a DBS Superleggera and a Valhalla from the modern era, and two former Bond cars, in the form of the DB5 and the Aston Martin V8 from 1987's The Living Daylights - the British marque's 'Q by Aston Martin' personalisation service has come up with the 007 Editions. Starting with the Vantage 007, it has a bespoke mesh grille with a chrome bezel, a dashed yellow diffuser inspired by the old Aston V8's rockets in the Timothy Dalton film and, if customers want them, a set of limited-edition skis and a ski rack, again harking back to the film Aston, which raced across a frozen lake at one point.

The Vantage 007 Edition will be finished in Cumberland Grey paint, with the interior specified in Obsidian Black leather and dark chrome, with 007 branding applied on the centre console of manual models. All versions, no matter their gearbox, also have a '96.60FM' graphic on their sun visors, this being a subtle reference to the Russian police frequency Bond uses to make his escape in The Living Daylights. The seats themselves feature unique heritage fluting, similar to that seen in the V8, as well as carbon-fibre bacs and the outline of a cello's 'f-holes', inspired by the cello chase seen in the 1987 movie. There's even a laser-etched gadget plaque that refers to the various weapons and devices seen on the film Aston, including a rocket motor, missiles, lasers, a targeting display and ski outriggers. Finally, crosshairs etched onto the car's paddleshift levers allude to the missile guidance system in The Living Daylights, and there's a Vantage side strake badge on the car. Just 100 Vantage 007 Editions will be available globally, in manual or automatic guise.

Only 25 DBS 007s

Moving on to the DBS Superleggera 007 Edition, this is even more limited than the Vantage, with just 25 production cars available worldwide. This one wears the exact specification of the DBS seen in No Time To Die, so expect Ceramic Grey paint contrasted by the roof, door mirror caps, the front splitter, the rear diffuser and the rear Aeroblade all finished in black-tinted carbon fibre. There are also Gloss Black, diamond-turned, Y-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels, a 007 fender badge and silver 007 foil applied to the rear spoiler's blade. Inside, it's dark leather with flashes of red detailing on the outline of the seats, while 007 logos are seen on the door cards, the armrest buckle badge and the rear subwoofer cover. There's a plaque in there, too, which commemorates the fact that there are just 25 DBS Superleggera 007 Editions in the world.

With first deliveries due in the first quarter of next year, the DBS Superleggera 007 Edition is likely to cost almost €500,000, while the Vantage 007 Edition will be around €286,000. Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's vice-president and chief creative officer, said: "Creating a 007 Edition is always an exciting challenge as we work to develop and style a car that embodies the legend of James Bond. It is an honour to apply carefully judged 007-inspired styling to our sports cars, which gives our customers the opportunity to own a unique piece of both cinematic and automotive history."
