My working week: Dave Humphreys

My working week: Dave Humphreys

Monday Sept 16

Usually my Mondays are a little on the hectic side as it's the day that we all swap over our test cars, but thankfully the A3 Saloon that I was driving was collected late last night as it was needed for its official press launch scheduled for today. That left me with the Renault Twizy, which I have to admit I have become completely smitten with despite all of its practical failings.

I'm bringing along my good friend and fellow hack Davey G. Johnson who is visiting Ireland this week following the Frankfurt Motor Show. Davey also has a love of whacky and obscure vehicles so he was more than happy to squeeze himself into the back of the Twizy for the trip to the Audi launch.

Tuesday Sept 17

Kicked off today with a meeting in town with the rest of the CompleteCar.ie team to discuss an exciting new project we'll be undertaking later on in the year. It's all being kept hush hush for now, but will look forward to telling you more about it as things develop. Also stole a lift there and back in a rather manly-specced Citroën DS3 Cabrio with Shane. Quite a nice car when given the right spec, and without that awful automated manual gearbox.

Wednesday Sept 18

First chance to go for a decent drive in the Peugeot 2008 that I've testing this week. Visually it's not a bad looking car, but driving it is slightly disappointing; I had thought that Peugeot would have upped its game a little bit more with this car given the competition. Took Davey G. Johnson to Mondello Park for a private tour of the museum, which holds some really incredible cars. Finished off the day by going to a special screening of Die Hard by the Jameson Cult Film Club with my radio friends Dave Moore and Dermot Whelan. Great to see some of the scenes recreated in person plus some American cop cars!

Thursday Sept 19

A busy day of writing today in order to catch up on some of the work that I've lagged behind on with various people visiting the country this week. Also booked some of my first test cars of 2014 - where has this year gone to?!

Friday Sept 20

Quite a hectic day today, which juggled writing, prep work for another new project and some more driving in the Peugeot 2008. The arrival at my door of a good mate on a rare day off for him resulted in me driving his current super-trendy spec Audi A1 into Dublin for a coffee and a chat. Even better news on the way home was getting word on an interesting new television venture - but the less I say about that for now, the better!
