The US spec Impreza will offer "the highest fuel economy of any all-wheel-drive car in the US", which probably isn't saying much.
There are no details as yet on specifications or performance figures for the car.
It is a little hard to make our major styling details from the side-on picture released but Subaru are aware that they will have to improve on the last Impreza, which was something of a styling disaster.
