Aston Martin expands

Huge investment to extend the Aston Martin factory in the UK.

Aston Martin is investing €25 million to expand manufacturing facilities at its factory and headquarters in the UK. The company is also recruiting new staff across the business as it prepares for the next generation of sports cars. Work at the plant, on the outskirts of the village of Gaydon, includes construction of a new chassis and pilot build facility, new offices and an extended parts and logistics storage area. In total the development work will cover 10,000 square metres with all work set for completion by 2015.

In addition to the building, Aston Martin is recruiting 250 new jobs at Gaydon. The positions are in engineering, manufacturing and commercial roles that are being created over the coming months. According to the company's Chief Financial Officer, Hanno Kirne, the next few years will see the greatest investment programme in Aston's 101-year history. Over €600 million is being spent on the next generation of vehicles.

Anything else?
Aston Martin is also continuing its apprenticeship programme to develop the next generation of manufacturing staff. Over 500 applications have been received for the next round of the scheme, competing for one of the 12 places available.
