Fitted with a four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, it has an official combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 6.8 litres/100km. CO2 emissions are 149g/km, which apparently makes it the first car in its class with emissions of less than 150g/km and hence it is in Band C for taxation in Ireland.
Mercedes describes the S 250 CDI BlueEfficiency as demonstrating its commitment to producing efficient cars. The company hasn't said whether it will import the model to Ireland as yet, but it's highly likely.
