Electric Fiat 500 boasts supercar performance

Atomik's bonkers electric 500 is on show this week in London.

The French car maker, Atomik Cars, is showcasing its electric 500 at this year's Salon Privé in London. Launched last month (June), this creation from the Paris-based maker supposedly brings supercar performance to the cuddly looks of the town car.

The Atomik 500 is based on Fiat's 500 though has been fitted with two electric motors instead of a conventional engine. The motors, one front and one rear, combine to produce 217hp and a huge 2,550Nm of torque.  Atomik claims a 0-100km/h time of less than five seconds and a range of up to 200 kilometres between charges. Emissions are zero.

As yet there's no word on a likely launch for the Irish market.
