New world drift record

A Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG saloon was used to smash the world's longest drift record.

Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, England was the scene for a new World Record this weekend.  Mauro Calo held a Mercedes C 63 AMG in a drift for a distance of 2,308 metres, beating the previous record by 394 metres.

For the record attempt Mauro used part of the Handling Circuit at Mercedes-Benz World.  Using a large circle of tarmac it took almost eight laps to secure a place in the history books.

The Handling Circuit is familiar territory for Calo; who frequently entertains crowds with precision driving as part of the Silver Arrows display team.

Commenting on the record the Commercial Operations Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars said: "When Mauro approached us to hold his record breaking attempt on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World we were happy to offer him the support.  He has been a valuable member of the driving experience team for several years and is a respected driver in the industry, so there was no doubt he would achieve his aim".
