Cupra partners with GamerFest for RDS event

Cupra announced as GamerFest’s official car partner.

Cupra Ireland has announced its partnership with GamerFest, set to be Ireland's largest gaming festival when it is held in the RDS on the 27th and 28th of May. It offers visitors the chance to play the latest games and compete in various esports tournaments.

The festival, expected to attract over 5,000 visitors, will feature a dedicated Cupra stand showcasing several models, such as the Born hatchback and Formentor E-Hybrid SUV.

Gamers to get Cupra VR experience

Alongside the real-world models will be a Cupra VR experience. A full driving simulator rig will also form part of the attraction, where visitors can set the fastest lap time in the ABT Cupra team's Formula E car.

"Cupra challenges convention and pushes boundaries, something that we aim to continue with this partnership," said Mark McGrath, head of marketing and product at Cupra Ireland. "Together with GamerFest we are aligned in our unique approach for high performance and entertainment and are ready to dominate 2023 and beyond."

Colm Roche, GamerFest's partnerships director, described the cooperation as forming "the ultimate weekend of gaming and esports experiences. We are delighted to be partnering with Cupra to push the boundaries of what this event can bring and look to enhance the entertainment experiences for our fans."

Not Cupra's first online rodeo

The company has experimented with virtual reality in the past, most notably with its Exponential Experience (where participants drove a real car in a controlled environment while wearing a VR headset to project a virtual road ahead) and with its 'Metahype' platform, described as "an innovative and interactive exploration of the metaverse spearheaded by Cupra."

Back in the real world, Cupra has already confirmed that the name of its next compact EV will be the Raval. Inspired by the UrbanRebel concept, this is expected to launch in Ireland in 2025.
