Renault dealers to donate €50 on every car sold during the weekend to Paralympics Ireland

Renault will say a final farewell to scrappage during a national Rendezvous Weekend from the 26th to 29th May. Not only is it the last chance to avail of scrappage offers but local Renault dealers will also donate €50 on every car sold during the weekend to Paralympics Ireland ‘Gold 2012’ Appeal.

Renault is a sponsor of the 2012 Irish Paralympic Team, and is also appealing for people to get involved and help make a difference by donating a Like on the Renault Ireland Facebook page. About the athletes featured:

Gary Messett (Bray, Co. Wicklow)

Gary is a key member of the Irish Cerebral Palsy (CP) 7-a-side Football Team which won bronze at the 2010 European Championships (he was voted “Player of the Tournament”). In March, he also featured in the Ireland team which won the invitational St Patrick's Day Cup in Dublin.

Gary and the rest of his teammates are preparing for the CP Football World Championships next month in Holland (17 June to 1 July). They are focused on securing a top-7 place and qualification for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Catherine Walsh (Swords, Co. Dublin)

Catherine won a bronze medal at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games in athletics' Pentathlon event, before transferring to tandem track cycling in 2005. 

In March, Catherine and Fran Meehan (her sighted pilot) secured bronze at the UCI Paracycling World Track Championships in Italy. She is now targeting the London 2012 Paralympic Games and a podium place in her 3km Individual Pursuit event.
