Limited-edition Lamborghinis star at Monterey

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster and Huracan Evo GT Celebration will total less than 100 units overall.

Lamborghini is using the Monterey Car Week/Pebble Beach event in California as an opportunity to show off a couple of special new models, as well as a new colour for its Urus SUV.

Born in '63

So, first up the ramp is a new derivation on the mental Aventador SVJ. Based on the Roadster model of the same car, the SVJ 63 Roadster (clue's in the name, folks...) is a limited edition that will comprise just 63 units for the worldwide market.

It commemorates the founding year of Automobili Lamborghini and follows on from a 63-off run of Coupe SVJs in the same appearance, with the Centro Stile and Ad Personam departments of the Italian supercar company offering up eight different exterior colours for the SVJ 63 Roadster. Externally, matte or gloss carbon fibre can be found on the roof, engine cover, engine air vents, the windscreen surround and door mirrors, while there's a matte titanium finish for the Leirion forged alloys. The Lambo also carries SVJ 63 livery, as well as a '1 of 63' numbered plate.

Inside, three colour schemes in Alcantara, featuring carbon-fibre highlights, are complemented by Lamborghini's patented lightweight 'CarbonSkin' material. There's a limited plaque on the steering wheel and a '63' logo etched into the rear bulkhead's Alcantara and CarbonSkin combination. The show car at Pebble Beach was finished in matte grey Grigio Acheso, set off by orange Arancio Dac details.

Like the SVJ Roadster, the 63 has a 770hp 6.5-litre V12, which backs up that power figure with 720Nm. Therefore, 0-100km/h takes just 2.9 seconds and 0-200km/h is ticked off in 8.8 seconds; top speed is beyond 350km/h and it'll stop from 100km/h in a mere 31 metres. All 63 units of the limited edition have been accounted for by Lamborghini collectors worldwide and the lucky few will take delivery from next year onwards.

Racing certainty

Alongside the SVJ 63 Roadster was the Huracan Evo GT Celebration. This is another limited-run special, with a mere 36 units to be built in tribute to Lambo's victories at the 2018 and '19 editions of the 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as the 12 Hours of Sebring - 36, of course, being the sum time of the two races, which are informally known as the '36 Hours of Florida'.

Being a tribute to the GT3 Evo which triumphed at the American races, the design of the car evokes the livery of the GRT Grasser Racing Team, which (along with Paul Miller Racing) brought the company the four victories. So the car is finished in Verde Egeria green and Arancio Aten orange, while another three colours for body and three colours for the livery means there are nine total combinations for the GT Celebration.

Hexagons on the doors and the bonnet frame the number '11', which is the racing version's tag, while 20-inch single-nut wheels can be combined with coloured brake callipers. The body can also wear Lamborghini's Squadra Corse shield, US flags and laurel wreaths on the rear wings. Side decor bears 'Daytona 24' and 'Sebring 12' plate, while the B-pillar on the driver's side has a carbon-fibre plaque with the inscription '1 of 36'.

Inside, the GT Celebration has Alcantara upholstery with contrast stitching in the same colour as the exterior livery, and a hexagonal plate with shield, flags and laurel that is sited between new racing seats. Powered by the V10 engine as used in other Huracans, the GT Celebration is for the North American market only.

Juicy orange

Lamborghini is going to be offering 'many' new colours for the Urus in the near future and one of them, Arancio Borealis - a four-layer paint that has become possible because of the new paintshop in Lambo's Sant'Agata HQ - was found clothing the show car at The Quail.
