Citroen previews new concepts for 2019

New Citroen concept cars will debut in Geneva and Shanghai in 2019.

What's the news?

We're used to car brands unveiling concept cars at motor shows, but at the opening of today's Paris Motor Show, Citroen announced its plans to debut two new concept cars next year. With 2019 marking the company's centenary, it has plenty of celebration in the pipeline, including two expectedly bold designs.

All we've seen thus far is a set of teaser images showing each car. The first will be revealed to the world at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March and, one month later, the second car will debut in Shanghai. All Citroen is saying so far is that the car in Geneva will showcase the brand's vision of urban mobility in the near future. Given the broad scope that the term mobility encompasses, our guess is as good as yours as to what we'll get to see at the Swiss show.

For the Shanghai Auto Show, the theme of the second concept car is ultra-comfort. Expect a plush interior and the likelihood of it being a fully autonomous vehicle that is essentially a mobile lounge. If the seats are anything like those in the latest C4 Cactus, we'll be quite happy to spend some time lounging around inside that particular concept car.
