All-new Ford Focus on sale in Ireland

New Ford Focus starts at €20,825 - petrol and diesel options.

Ford Ireland launched the new Focus this week with a 34-strong model line-up dominated by 1.6-litre TDCi power. Prices start at €20,825.

The entry-level model, a five-door hatchback, is powered by the only petrol engine available, a new 1.6-litre VCT unit with 105hp. It sits in Band B for annual road tax of €156. This engine is also available in 125hp tune.

All versions of the new Ford Focus on sale in Ireland are in either Band A or Band B - that applies to the five-door hatchback, the four-door saloon and the Focus Estate. Hence they are all eligible to buy on the scrappage scheme (which ends in June), though Ford has not yet announced any extra incentives.

The most popular engine choice is likely to be Ford's 1.6-litre TDCi turbodiesel. It's available in either 95- or 115hp states of tune, depending on the trim level chosen.

The line-up consists of the standard Focus, Edge, Zetec and Titanium specifications. All models feature ESP with traction assist; Ford Intelligent Protection System; body colour bumpers, mirrors and spoiler (on the five-door hatchback); electric front windows; electric door mirrors; remote central locking with flip key; stereo radio / CD with USB connectivity; and capless refuelling.

Edge models add air conditioning; trip computer with fuel computer and eco mode driver information system; radio steering wheel toggle controls; leather trim steering wheel; power heated door mirrors; body colour door handles; and comfort front seats.

Zetec adds 16-inch alloys; front fog lights; Quickclear Windscreen; sports tuned suspension; driver lumbar support; sports style front seats; premium centre console with arm rest and Z-design handbrake to the Edge trim.

Finally, the top-of-the-range Titanium model features 16-inch alloys of a different design; dual-zone climate control; automatic wipers; automatic lights; auto-dimming rear view mirror; hill start assist; and cruise control with automatic speed limiter.

The only automatic Focus on the price list is powered by a 2.0 TDCi engine producing 115hp. It's available in all three body styles.

"The Ford Focus is a key model for the Irish market", said Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland.  "Its all round great driving ability has ensured its crown as Ireland's favourite car since its first arrival in 1998 and I am sure that this new model with its up to the minute technology and highly efficient engines will again find favour with Ireland's value-conscious motorists".
