BMW M Performance for 6 Series GT

BMW’s 6 Series Gran Turismo can have sportier exhaust, brakes, wheels and aesthetic detailing.

What's the news?

No sooner has it evolved into the 6 Series Gran Turismo than BMW is giving its largest luxury coupe-hatchback crossover a series of upgrades, courtesy of M Performance Parts.

Launching in November, the M Performance components include enhancements for the drivetrain, suspension, exterior and interior.

First up is an M Performance exhaust silencer, specifically developed for the petrol-engined models like the 630i and 640i (with or without xDrive). Depending on trim and engine, it comes with either round or trapezoid tailpipes in chrome or carbon fibre finishes, with a promise of better sound and smoother exhaust-gas airflow. The round tailpipes wear an 'M' logo, the trapezoids the full 'M Performance' inscription.

The looks of the car and its grip levels can both be improved by fitting a set of mahoosive 21-inch M Performance light alloy wheels, wearing 245/35 rubber front and 275/30s at the rear. These are forged rims and they come in a double-spoke, bicolour design. Behind said wheels, you can bolt on a set of sport brakes, incorporating ventilated and perforated discs gripped by four-pot callipers on the front axle (it's a single-piston floating calliper at the back), which help maximise the bigger tyres' grip contact patches by ramping up the stopping power. And don't worry, other road users will know you have the M Performance anchors, as the callipers are painted red.

Visually, there's a high-gloss black kidney grille, door mirror caps in carbon fibre and that big silver-and-Frozen-Black graphic you can see sweeping along above the 6 GT's sills. Inside, an Alcantara-clad M Performance steering wheel rather seems like overkill on a car that's about as likely to see hot track action as a Honda Jazz (no, NOT the Spoon Racing version from Japan...) and it also has paddle shifts for the standard fit eight-speed Steptronic auto gearbox.

Finally, there are M Performance floor mats in the offing, as well.

Anything else?

All of the M Performance parts for the 6 Series Gran Turismo will be available through the Original BMW Accessories programme, sold and installed through the BMW dealer/sales/service network.
