Volkswagen launches cheaper diesel Tiguan

Irish buyers can now have a 115hp 2.0 TDI Tiguan for as little as €29,985.

What's the news?

Volkswagen has launched a new 115hp 2.0-litre TDI diesel version of its new Tiguan, priced at €30,985. That makes it almost as cheap as the entry-level 1.4 TSI petrol turbo model (which costs €29,085) and the gap can be narrowed further - there's a special discount for those ordering a Tiguan 115hp on PCP before the 31st of December, which brings the price down to €29,985.

Also on the savings trail is the popular R-Line styling pack. Normally a €2,860 upgrade on a Comfortline model, you can buy it for half price - €1,430 - between now and the end of December. Buyers choosing a Tiguan Highline or Comfortline over an entry-level Trendline also get a discounted APR rate of 3.9 per cent on their PCP, which Volkswagen claims can save €2,000 over the life of the car.

Volkswagen Ireland is also introducing 171 Premium Upgrade Packs for the Tiguan, allowing motorists to upgrade the specification of their Tiguan for a fraction of the price of the individual items. For example, in the Comfortline, motorists will receive the Mirror Package, Keyless Access, Panoramic Sunroof, Discover Media Satellite Navigation, Voice Control and App Connect. This pack is valued at €3,189, but is available for just €999, providing savings of an additional €2,190.

"The Tiguan, we feel, is the most premium offering in the segment and now customers can get into the Tiguan with even greater added value," said Volkswagen Passenger Cars Ireland Brand Director Gerrit Heimberg. "When you add up all of the potential savings through added value and our finance offers, you can save up to €5,900 on a new Tiguan Comfortline in time for the busy 171 plate, and that is a significant saving on a premium SUV. Plus, for PCP orders placed before the 31st of December customers can benefit from an additional €1,000 Deposit Contribution."
