Mercedes outlines massive Paris show stand

Electric Smart, E-Class All-Terrain and GLC 43 Coupé among Mercedes’ French highlights.

What's the news?

Mercedes' typically gigantic motor show stand for the 2016 Paris effort has been revealed, and it's a 2,500-metre square whopper packed with plenty to see - including the premiere of three vehicles not shown elsewhere before and also that enormous Maybach Vision 6 which debuted in the US recently.

The big reveals include electric drive versions of the latest Smart range - Fortwo, Fortwo Cabrio and the Forfour as well - plus an off-road crossover version of the E-Class Estate, called the All-Terrain; timed perfectly to coincide with Volvo's V90 Cross Country. The Audi A6 Allroad certainly has plenty to think about now.

As well as the Vision 6 (you need a large stand to accommodate this behemoth), the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupé will be on show. With the 367hp/520Nm 3.0-litre V6 biturbo petrol, as seen in the SL and SLC 43, we have high hopes for this fastback SUV because we loved the 350 d version when we tried it a few months back.

On a more mysterious note, Mercedes has a centrepiece car which it is keeping under wraps for now, as well as a new addition to the AMG GT family, which is the convertible version we told you about just a few days ago.

Anything else?

Mercedes' leviathan display will be in hall 5.2, if you're looking for it. If you can't make it in person, social media integration on the stand means key topics will be streamed live to the Merc community via Facebook Live.
