Porsche's Performance Package for Macan Turbo

Porsche Macan Turbo gets more power and chassis upgrades.

What's the news?

If you're the type of individual that enjoys making your kids sick on the school run, you'll be delighted to hear that Porsche is endowing its compact SUV offering, the Macan, with a Performance Package for the Turbo model.

Exterior

The exterior sees options such as 21-inch alloys (which take inspiration from the 911 Turbo's wheel design), dynamic LED headlights and black detailing in various places.

Interior

Inside, it's a smorgasbord of Alcantara, leather and carbon fibre.

Mechanicals

The 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine gets a 40hp boost up to 440hp, which means that you can now hit 100km/h in four-and-a-bit seconds, with a top speed of over 270km/h. Tree-fellers will be happy to know that 600Nm of torque is at hand, which contributes to ludicrous in-gear acceleration figures. These stats were the preserve of only the most serious performance cars of yesteryear, so this is one quick machine.

The chassis receives some tweaks to help it cope with the extra grunt, with a drop of 15mm and recalibrated damping aimed at improving stability at speed. Height adjustable air suspension with a self-levelling function is also available as an option. On the braking front, you'll be glad of the bigger discs and six-piston calipers when hauling up from high speed, and the Sport Chrono package brings even swifter gearchanges from the PDK twin-clutch automatic gearbox while the exhaust bellows a suitable noise in Sport Plus mode.

Despite all the performance modifications, Porsche has somehow managed to squeeze fuel economy of 30.1mpg out of the car.

Anything else?

The Macan Turbo with Performance Package is available to order from Dublin Porsche Centre now, with an RRP of €122,512, and first deliveries arrive toward year-end.
