Ford Edge SUV arrives in Ireland

Ford's biggest SUV, the new Edge, has gone on sale, starting at €55,700.

What's the news?

Ford has launched its largest SUV yet to be sold in Ireland, the stylish new Edge. Prices start at €55,700, all cars seat five and have all-wheel drive as standard.

A 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine is offered in 180hp guise with a six-speed manual gearbox or 210hp when paired with Ford's PowerShift automatic. The emissions ratings vary by trim level rather than transmission, though all versions of the Edge fall into Band C. The Titanium cars emit 149g/km, while the Sport models return 152g/km.

All are well-equipped. The Edge Titanium, starting at €55,700, features 19-inch alloy wheels, a rear view camera, front and rear parking sensors, Active Noise Cancellation, touchscreen satnav, keyless entry and start and an electric opening tailgate among other things, while the Sport version, starting at €57,450, includes 20-inch wheels, other interior and exterior styling updates, Adaptive Steering and a Sony stereo system.

Anything else?

"The all new Edge joins our Kuga and EcoSport to complete Ford's SUV line-up in a segment which even in Ireland is seeing huge growth," said Ciarán McMahon, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland. "Offering cutting-edge style with commanding presence and high specification including Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive, the Edge will tick all the boxes for Ireland's growing number of SUV owners."
