Jaguar Co-Pilot Nordschleife programme announced

Like a rollercoaster, except in an F-Type SVR.

What's the news?

Some people are not good passengers. For those people, their idea of hell must surely be a high-speed, no-holds barred run around the Green Hell that is also known as the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

For those who enjoy being driven around at a ludicrous pace, several manufacturers and individuals offer ''taxi'' rides around the track, of which BMW's Ring-Taxi is probably the most famous.

Jaguar has now got in on the act, and is offering spins in a luridly-painted F-Type SVR (it has AWD and 570hp by the way). The way it works is: you hand over 295 of your hard earned Euros, receive a full complement of racewear including a HANS device, get harnessed into the beast (taking care not to bang your noggin on the rollcage) and then get hurtled around the 20.8km course while cameras record your every reaction for posterity and/or amusement. It's certainly an interesting way to experience the track without risking your own pride and joy, and as anyone who's seen the countless ''Touristenfahrten'' videos on YouTube, accidents happen regularly and without remorse on the circuit.

The runs are restricted to people 18 years or older, and promise speeds of over 320km/h on the famous Döttinger Höhe straight. There are 16 weekend dates to choose from now until the end of October, so if it floats your boat then get booking. The Nürburgring is a place that every petrolhead should experience at least once, and what better way to do it than beside a certifiable lunatic in a supercar?
