Aston Martin's Le Mans stars take to karts

Specially-made Razor Carts get Aston leather and trimming.

What's the news?

Well, if your day job is racing a V8 Vantage GTE around one of the world's greatest race tracks, you've got to unwind somehow, right?

Ahead of tomorrow's 84th running of the great Le Mans 24hrs, the Aston Martin team drivers took to the track for some fun (or possibly some sneaky extra practice) in (on?) modified Razor Crazy Carts, hurling them up around the Dunlop Bridge complex.

The karts were specially modified by Aston Martin's bespoke 'Q' service, and had leather and Alcantara steering wheels and seats and a 'Stirling Green' paint job.

Darren Turner, one of the drivers of of GTE Pro entry number 95 said following his stint in the cart: "It's always great to test something a little bit different and this was no exception. This is my 14th year here at Le Mans and I've never driven anything so sideways on this circuit. We're a competitive bunch and as soon as the helmets were on, this race was no different."

New Zealander Richie Stanaway of sister GTE Pro entry number 97 added: "It's a little bit wilder than my V8 Vantage GTE, but I've definitely mastered the 360-degree powerslide. When I'm not racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, you'll now find me behind the wheel of this little racer instead."
