Saab and BMW to sign engine deal

Reports say that Saab to use BMW engines for its new 9-3 in 2012.

Saab and BMW look set to sign a deal this coming Wednesday (September 29), which will allow the Swedish carmaker to use BMW engines for its new 9-3 model. 

According to reports from Automotive News Europe, Saab is said to be intent on using the MINI Countryman platform for the Saab 9-2, which will be a small car harking back to the original tear-drop shaped classic. 

Saab said it will make an announcement on Wednesday and will hold a press conference in Sweden at 11:15 CET.
