Sporty look for Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen has revealed an R-line styling package for the Beetle.

What's the news?
Volkswagen has released a pair of R-Line styling packages for the new generation Beetle model. Based on the range-topping 'Sport' trim the R-Line exterior pack can be ordered separately, with the interior package offered as an extension of the exterior details.

Exterior
Available across the entire colour palette of the Beetle range the R-Line exterior package adds a unique front bumper with chrome indicator surrounds and black air inlet, a rear diffuser, 18-inch alloy wheels and a smattering of R-Line logos to give the Beetle a sportier look. Machine-polished 19-inch wheels, finished in either black or white, can be ordered at extra cost.

Interior
While leather clad sports seats are an optional extra the R-Line interior package does include fabric seats in Volkswagen's trademark Kyalami design as standard. Also included are leather trimmed sports steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and handbrake grip. Decorative 'Dark Vanadium' inlays adorn the dashboard while R-Line badges are found on the door sills, steering wheel and headrests.

Mechanicals
As a styling package the R-Line kit has no effect on the Beetle's performance. It is only available on the tastier 'Sport' range though that includes 140hp 2.0-litre TDI, 160hp 1.4 TSI and 200hp 2.0-litre TSI engines.

Anything else?
No word yet on Irish pricing or availability but in Germany the exterior kit commands a €1,290 premium over the regular 'Sport' model and when the interior pack is added the price rises to €1,675.
