SEAT previews sporty version of Mii town car

The FR line means more show, but no extra go for SEAT's Mii.

What's the news?

Set to be unveiled at the annual Volkswagen Group celebration known as the Wörthersee Festival, the SEAT Mii FR Concept gives us a clue as to what a sportier version of SEAT's baby city car might look.

Exterior

As the concept is badged as an FR rather than Cupra the styling changes are minimal, yet telling. Finished in Tornado red paint the concept comes complete with black trim on the wheel arches, boot and side sills and it sports a discrete rear spoiler. Rolling on unique 16-inch alloy wheels the FR concept appears the perfect answer for young drivers who want the looks but not the insurance costs associated with sports models.

Interior

The black and red colour theme is carried over to the interior with FR-badged sports seats fitted up front and a prominent FR logo on the dashboard.

Mechanicals

Underneath the FR body kit and alloy wheels the Mii FR Concept remains untouched. That means it packs the same 74hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder as the regular Mii. Hardly an engine befitting the looks of the concept but a hotter version could see to that if there is demand from buyers.

Data

SEAT product marketing boss confirmed that the firm is working on a FR version of the Mii, most likely with the same 110hp engine as the up! GT, but the company will not offer a higher performance Cupra model.
