Renault Kangoo Z.E. is van of the year

Renault Kangoo Z.E. is van of the year Renault's Kangoo Z.E. is the first electric vehicle to be awarded the International Van of the Year title.

A jury of 22 European journalists have voted the all-electric Renault Kangoo Z.E. the International Van of the Year for 2012. The jury, all specialists in light commercial vehicles, chose the Kangoo Z.E. for its zero-emission virtues, as well as for its practical and economical qualities.

"With the Kangoo Z.E. Renault brings the electric van within the reach of the normal European van user," explained jury chairman Pieter Wieman, "thereby delivering a major contribution to environmental sustainability, one of the most important issues of the transport of goods by road nowadays."
Speaking after the announcement Eric Basset, Managing Director of Renault Ireland said; "This prize rewards the work of the people at Renault who have worked for several years on the Kangoo Z.E, one of Renault's range of four electric vehicles. We have just launched Kangoo Z.E. in Ireland and already there is great interest from the commercial and service sector, and the general public are also now becoming more aware that electric is here and is available and affordable to all".

The International Van of the Year award comes after the Kangoo Z.E. won both the Fleet Transport Green Commercial of 2012 and the Danish Van of the Year.
