New Honda CR-V revealed

Though still technically a prototype, this is the new Honda CR-V.

Honda has released images of the European CR-V Prototype ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Despite Honda slavishly sticking with the 'prototype' tag this is the car that is expected to go on sale in Ireland later this year.

Styling wise the new model is pretty much unchanged from the US version that was revealed at the LA Auto Show, although it is expected that steering and suspension settings will be tuned for European roads. Compared to the previous generation car the new CR-V gets a more aggressive stance with deeper bumpers that kink upwards to give a hint at its off-road ability.

Honda has remained tight-lipped about the engine line-up for the CR-V although it is expected it will be fitted with the current car's 2.0-litre i-VTEC and 2.2-litre i-DTEC petrol and diesel units. With the long-awaited 120hp 1.6-litre diesel engine also being unveiled in Geneva there are suggestions that it will be fitted to the CR-V in time.
