IntelliLink systems promise to bring Mokka's connectivity up to date.

What's the news?

Opel has released details of the connectivity possibilities for the forthcoming Mokka X. The compact SUV now will have the option of two systems, called R 4.0 IntelliLink and NAVI 900 IntelliLink, with varying specifications. The Edition trim gets R 4.0 IntelliLink as standard, which features a seven-inch touchscreen, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, along with compatibility with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps.

The NAVI 900 IntelliLink option adds integrated navigation with maps of over 30 European countries, with 2D and 3D displays available on the eight-inch touchscreen. Voice commands can be used to control features such as audio streaming, destinations and telephone numbers, while Bose speakers are an additional option for those who desire better quality audio.

Of further interest are the features of Opel's OnStar assistance and the myOpel mobile app. In the event of airbag deployment in an accident, an OnStar advisor is informed who then contacts the driver and emergency services immediately. Red and blue buttons summon emergency assistance and useful information on locations of restaurants and fuel stations respectively.

The smartphone app has some useful bits, such as details on vehicle diagnostics, oil level and tyre pressures, along with a function that helps you to find your lost Mokka in a car park by flashing its lights and sounding the horn. You can also lock and unlock the doors remotely, if you so wish. There's no word on Irish pricing for the new Mokka X as yet, but keep an eye on www.opel.ie for further details.
