Volkswagen adds equipment to 162-plate Golfs

Juggled Golf line-up now includes new 'Allstar' trim.

What's the news?

It's safe to say that, with 15,800 MkVII Golfs sold in Ireland since 2012, the model has been something of a success for Volkswagen. That hasn't meant that the company has rested on its Golf-y laurels though, and with the 162 registration period coming up, there are major revisions to the Golf line-up in store.

The biggest change is that the popular Comfortline spec level is no more, and has been replaced by a new trim called 'Allstar.' Allstar models will come with 16-inch 'Linas' alloy wheels, Allstar lettering scuff plates on the door sills, a 'Pentastripe' upholstery design, 'Zirconium' inserts for dashboard and door trims, an Allstar emblem on the wing, voice control, tinted rear windows, 'Discover' media system with satnav, a panoramic sunroof, floor mats with Allstar stitching, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, iPhone connection, a Lights & Vision Package and Rear View Camera. The addition of a €162 innovation pack adds electric folding mirrors, App-Connect and keyless start on five-door versions. The Golf AllStar range starts from €24,100.

Meanwhile, the basic Trendline spec has been improved and now comes with 'Composition' media radio, cruise control, a leather multi-function steering wheel, iPhone connection, multi-function display plus and rear electric windows on the five-door. The addition of a €162 Innovation Pack adds 16-inch Toronto alloy wheels, front fog lights, tinted rear windows and App-Connect. The Golf Trendline starts from €20,385.

The Highline spec, which is actually the best-selling Golf trim in Ireland right now (aren't we fancy?) comes with 'Discover' media with satnav, light assist, iPhone connection, keyless access on five-door models, rear view camera, voice control and Vienna leather upholstery, in addition to the already generous standard equipment list. The addition of a €162 Innovation Pack will also add 18-inch 'Durban' alloy wheels, darkened LED rear lights and App-Connect. In the Estate model, the €162 Innovation Pack adds a Winter Pack instead of the darkened rear LEDs. The Golf Highline range starts from €25,965.

At the top of the range, the Golf GTD model now comes with 'Discover' media with satnav, light assist, iPhone connection, keyless access and start on the five-door, rear view camera and voice control as standard. The €162 Innovation Pack for the GTD adds a Dynaudio speaker system and App-Connect. The Golf GTI now comes in two guises, the standard 220hp GTI and the new 40th Anniversary Special Edition Clubsport. The latter comes with 265hp and will start at a price of €43,375. It replaces the previous GTI with Performance Pack. GTI, Clubsport, GTE and Golf R models for 162 get Discover media with satnav, light assist, iPhone connection, keyless access and start for the five-door, rear view camera and voice control and with the addition of the €162 Innovation Pack get the Dynaudio speaker system and App-Connect. In the case of the GTE, the €162 Innovation Pack adds a panoramic sunroof and App-Connect.
