Honda Project 2 & 4 due at Frankfurt

Car-bike amalgam to debut alongside new personal mobility device.

Honda is going to bring some sort of motorcycle-car hybrid machine, which could be a rival to the Ariel Atom, to the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) next month.

Called Honda Project 2 & 4, the vehicle is the culmination of a collaboration between the bike design centre in Asaka and the car team in Wako, and while we have no more details on it as yet, Honda does say the 2 & 4's 'cabin-less structure produces an immersive driving environment combining the experience Honda has in providing the freedom of a motorcycle and the manoeuvrability of a car'.

There's also the very obscure teaser image of the 2 & 4 that you can see on this page, although that doesn't give much away. However, we're looking forward to the full reveal of this thing in Germany.

Anything else?

Alongside the regular road-car range - including the new Jazz, HR-V and Civic Type R models - Honda will also take along a personal mobility device called the UNI-CUB β. It features balance control technology and something called Honda Omni Traction Drive System (which allows it to move in any direction it likes). HOTDS was developed from Honda's work in building humanoid robots, such as ASIMO.

Frankfurt IAA runs from September 15-27 this year.
