Smoky video clouds Ford Focus RS styling

Ford teases new mega-hatch ahead of February 3rd debut.

Well, we've got a video here that features a track, a lot of smoke and noise and the sight of an outwardly sensible family hatchback giving the Pro Drift series a run for its money when it comes to sideways action. The track is Ford's proving ground at Lommel in Belgium and the car is the all-new Focus RS.

Based on the already pretty hot Focus ST, the new RS will take that hotness and add a larder's worth of Scotch Bonnets to it. The ST's 2.0-litre engine comes out and in slots a new 2.3-litre unit shared with the new Mustang. Ford is promising considerably more than 300hp for its new hot hatch hero and word on the street (and by street we mean those fake streets at Lommel, obviously) is that the final figure will be better than 330hp.

Trying manfully to put all that oomph safely onto the tarmac will be a new 'Revo Knuckle' front suspension design (said to quell torque steer to manageable levels) and a clever differential to spread the grunt out evenly.

Don't expect a huge amount of change from €45k when it does arrive, but do expect a huge amount of power, grip, aggressive styling and noise. Like the first two Focus RS models, this one is likely to be one for the history books... Set your calendars for February 3rd for the full reveal and all the meaty details.
