Honda's 2.0-litre turbo now has 320hp for the Civic Type R.

What's the news?

Aside from all its electric car promises, Honda has brought along the new Civic Type R to the Geneva Motor Show and someone might need to pass us a towel... It's not the most surprising reveal (we had seen a concept version of this car last year and little enough seems to have changed), but the tech spec is pretty mouth-watering.

The Type R's carry-over 2.0-litre turbo engine is boosted now to 320hp, with 400Nm of torque, and it fires all of that at the front wheels via a traditional Honda six-speed manual gearshift. The suspension has been stiffened, lowered and, at the rear, strengthened, and the body shell is 38 per cent stiffer than standard thanks to clever use of adhesive where it's needed.

That big body kit has purpose beyond the visual - Honda claims that it gives the Type R the best lift-to-drag ratio in its class.

There's also a new driving mode switch, which keeps the Sport and +R settings from the old Type-R, but which adds a Comfort setting for when you're on the school run.

Anything else?
