Volkswagen Beetle facelifted

Volkswagen Beetle facelifted
Fresh looks, updated interior and new R-Line version for the Volkswagen Beetle.

What's the news?

Volkswagen has given the Beetle range a makeover; the styling is updated and R-Line replaces 'Sport' in the model line-up. The changes apply to the whole range comprising the Coupé, Cabriolet and Dune crossover in markets they're all available.

Exterior

New bumpers, designed to sharpen the Beetle's appearance, identify the updated model. R-Line models get a unique bumper design, which features extra air intakes on the upper edge. Two new pearlescent colours should be available: Bottle Green and White Silver.

The Beetle R-Line comes with a body-colour rear diffuser, tailgate spoiler and chromed twin exhausts. The external mirrors and door protectors are finished in gloss black. Sports suspension is standard and there is a choice of two 18-inch alloy wheel designs at no extra cost.

Interior

Inside, there is new upholstery plus brighter instrument lighting. Design and R-Line versions get new dials and dashboard styling, too.

'R-Line' logos feature on the headrests, steering wheel and door tread plates. The seats are trimmed in 'Kyalami' cloth and include height and lumbar adjustment.

Anything else?

Under the R-Line's bonnet is a 2.0-litre, TDI 150hp engine with a choice of manual or DSG automatic transmissions.

The updated Beetle will hit Irish shores later this year so we don't yet have pricing or exact specifications.
